Marian Mann - Sgt. at Arms

Marian Mann was born and raised in San Francisco and has three sons and three daughters, of which, two sons still bowl. As a young mother of four, she was contacted by phone and was offered free bowling lessons with free childcare at Serra Bowl. A remarkable thing occurred following the completion of her five week Learn to Bowl Class. She and her fellow students were informed "There just happens to be a ten week league for new bowlers commencing the following week". Nearly forty years later, Marian is still bowling at Serra bowl. She has been secretary of her current league for 29 years.

Marian has served our sport since 1969 when she attended an Annual Meeting of the San Francisco Women's Bowling Association (SFWBA). A new Director for Serra Bowl was needed and she was asked top fill in the slot. She served on the SFWBA Board until 1973 when she had her son Matt. She resumed serving on the Board in 1975. She served as the WIBC Membership Development Chair for California for several years. Marian is currently the 1st Vice President of the SFWBA and Sgt. at Arms for the CBW. Marian is Charter Member #6 of the CBW and was elected as Director #1, North at the initial CBW meeting.

This busy lady also managed to become a Certified Bowling Instructor and still gives free bowling lessons to new league members.

One of Marian's proudest moments was when she won both the CBW and the NWBW award for her story "A Proud Mom". This story was easy to write because it was about her son, Matt, bowling his first 300 in her league. She has received numerous NWBW, and Golden Nugget awards, as well as Infolink and other non-bowling awards for writing. Marian writes for several publications monthly and keeps honing her skills with the "dreaded deadlines" looming over her head.
